April 28, 2017
Asiana Airlines has taken delivery of its first Airbus A350-900.
The South Korean airline becomes the 12th operator of the type.
Asiana will deploy the A350-900 on regional routes such as Hong Kong, Manila and Osaka until the third quarter of 2017, when the new aircraft will begin operating long-haul routes such as San Francisco and London.
Asiana has 11 A350-900s and 10 A350-1000s left on order. It also has orders for eight A350-800s and is the only airline to still have orders for the shortest variant, which Airbus has put on hold.
The other A350 operators are Qatar Airways, Vietnam Airlines, Finnair, LATAM, Singapore Airlines, Ethiopian Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Thai Airways, China Airlines, Lufthansa and Air Caraïbes.
