UPS has placed an order for three 767 Boeing Converted Freighters at the Paris Air Show 2017.

“The purchase and conversion of these 767s is a perfect example of how UPS is making smart investments to fuel profitable growth,” said Brendan Canavan, president of UPS. “This extension of our relationship with Boeing will help expand the safe, reliable and on-time services we provide for our customers all over the world.”

According to Boeing, it has collaborated with UPS since 1981, when UPS purchased its first 727s to begin its Next Day Air operation. UPS was also the launch customer of the 767 freighter in 1995.

Boeing’s current market outlook forecasts a need for 400 widebody conversions over the next 20 years. In particular, the growth of e-commerce and the express market has led to a strong demand for 767 freighter conversions.

UPS is based in Atlanta and serves more than 220 countries and territories worldwide. It operates 184 Boeing aircraft and has 14 747-8Fs on order, with options to purchase an additional 14.
