Fiji Airways will lease two Airbus A350-900s as part of its network expansion plans.

According to the airline, the two aircraft will be leased from Dubai Aerospace Enterprise Capital and will be delivered later this year. They will be powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines.

Fiji Airways will deploy the aircraft on its existing long-haul routes to Australia and the US, and will also be able to launch additional routes.

“We are extremely pleased with this selection and proud of the confirmed arrangements with DAE Capital as the lessor, and Rolls-Royce as the engine supplier,” said Andre Viljoen, managing director and CEO of Fiji Airways. “Our teams are currently customizing the aircraft to our specifications, including our world-renowned livery and designs which proudly represent the people of Fiji.”

Rolls-Royce will take responsibility for engine maintenance through its TotalCare long-term services, which help to maximize aircraft availability.

The A350 has a common type rating with the airline’s A330 fleet, which consists of five A330-200s and one A330-300.

The A350 XWB Family had received 890 firm orders from 50 customers worldwide by the end of March 2019, according to Airbus.
