UNITED SUSPENDS DAILY CHICAGO-HK FLIGHT
August 26, 2019

United Airlines is suspending its daily service from Chicago O'Hare International Airport to Hong Kong starting September 8, citing reduced demand for the route.

In a statement, the American airline said the last flight from Chicago to Hong Kong will depart on September 8, while the final service from Hong Kong to Chicago will leave on September 9.

United announced it is also suspending its flights from Guam to Hong Kong on October 14.

"While our service between the United States and Hong Kong remains a vital part of our network, we have decided to suspend service between Chicago and Hong Kong after the return flight from Hong Kong on September 9, 2019," United said.

The airline cited reduced demand for suspending the service but did not mention whether the suspensions are tied with the ongoing political unrest in the city.

The airline said despite this, United remains to be the largest US airline operating to Hong Kong.

In June, United announced it is introducing a second flight to Hong Kong from San Francisco, from October 26.
