CHINA ANNOUNCES AIR CARGO SUBSIDY
May 27, 2020

China's Ministry of Finance announced this week that a financial support policy for commercial air cargo operations will be implemented from April 1 to June 30 to aid the aviation industry that is still reeling from the heavy impact of the coronavirus outbreak.

The air cargo subsidy includes:

  • A subsidy of up to 80% of modification costs for the conversion of passenger aircraft to carry additional cargo. The maximum subsidy will be CNY800,000 (US$111,773) for narrowbody aircraft and CNY1.45 million (US$20.26 million) for widebodies;

  • A subsidy for international cargo-only services, ranging from CNY7400 (US$1,000) to CNY60,000 (US$8,000) based on the flight distance and aircraft maximum take-off weight.
