Shanghai Pudong International Airport Cargo Terminal Co., Ltd. has begun trial operations at its 3,500m2 cool centre.
The facility includes different temperature zones in line with international standards and has a designed handling capacity of 100,000 tonnes of temperature-sensitive air freight every year.
“Our new cooling facility will enable us to keep meeting the requirements of our airline customers, which are increasingly offering and developing their hi-tech perishable and pharmaceutical services,” said Lutz Grzegorz, vice president of PACTL. “So far, the trial operations have run as smoothly as expected. As all the cooling cells are working in a stable manner, we’re now about to install roller beds and open a tractor channel to connect the cool centre with the apron.”
Grzegorz added that the centre was eco-friendly because it uses new non-toxic refrigerants and electrically powered tugs and forklifts.
