Emirates will add a fifth daily flight to Colombo from August 1, 2016.
The flight will be operated by a Boeing 777-300ER and will offer an additional 161 tonnes of cargo capacity in each direction every week.
According to the carrier, items to be transported on the flight include pharmaceuticals, household goods, mobile phones, ship spares and aircraft parts, as well as Sri Lankan exports such as apparel, fresh and frozen seafood, fruits and vegetables.
Emirates started operations to Sri Lanka in April 1986, and currently flies three times non-stop to Colombo every day apart from Wednesday. It also operates a daily flight to Colombo via Male in the Maldives.
