Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited has handled 64 horses competing at the Longines Masters event in Hong Kong.
The horses arrived from Liege via Dubai on Emirates, the official carrier for the event. According to Hactl, it unloaded the horses in their air stalls, transferred them through its dedicated animal-handling centre and then loaded them onto horseboxes with low-angle ramps.
The operation was coordinated by European Horse Services from Belgium.
Hactl has so far been the ground-handler for every annual Longines Masters in Hong Kong since the city started hosting the event in 2013.
“It is great to see this prestigious and unique event back in Hong Kong once more, and we are delighted to have worked with Emirates and European Horse Services to ensure that the very valuable entrants were in perfect condition to take part, and then returned home safely afterwards,” said Mark Whitehead, chief executive of Hactl. “It seems horses handle jetlag very well!”
