Lufthansa Cargo will expand its network by adding destinations as well as upgrading capacity and frequencies.

From March 2016, the carrier has added a weekly MD-11F flight from Frankfurt to Moscow Domodedovo, which continues on to Ashgabat and Baku.

From the summer season starting on March 27, Lufthansa will add a weekly MD-11F flight to Doha and a weekly flight to Los Angeles via Seattle, using an AeroLogic Boeing 777F. Both flights will be operated on Fridays.

From the end of March, Lufthansa Cargo will also upgrade Tokyo, Seoul and Beijing to a 777F.

Further expansion will come in the form of boosted frequencies. According to Lufthansa, it will fly an MD-11F direct to Hong Kong six times a week, on top of the existing weekly AeroLogic 777F. Ho Chi Minh City will also receive one more weekly freighter flight.

Additional capacity is available on the bellies of the Lufthansa Group’s passenger flights. Lufthansa started flying to Panama City with an Airbus A340-300 five times a week from March 2, and is scheduled to start flying to San Jose, California from July 2016.

Austrian Airlines will beef up its Vienna-Shanghai frequency to daily May 2016 and recently announced the launch of five-weekly 777-200ER flights to Hong Kong from September 2016.

Lufthansa also recently announced the availability of belly space on low-cost subsidiary Eurowings’  long-haul flights, including A330-200s from Cologne to Varadero, Punta Cana and Puerto Plata. Phuket and Bangkok are due to be added from the end of March 2016, Cancun and Mauritius from May, Boston from June and Miami from September, according to Lufthansa.
