MAB Kargo Sdn Bhd (MASkargo) announced that it is now using digital tracking to optimize 20 ft dollies operations at its Kuala Lumpur hub.
The Malaysian carrier has installed a digital tracking system on its airport dollies and the system includes a geofencing alarm that covers a range of 1.5 km.
It was handed over by Apecha Sdn Bhd, who completed the device installation and initial testing of MASkargo's ground fleet.
The system also improves operational efficiency by automatically assigning dollies throughout the airport in preparation for peak hours and enhancing on-time performance.
"There are only 16 units of the 20ft [dollies] in our fleet and these are constantly in great demand due to their ability to take on more weight per trip," said Abu Bakar Kassim, ramp handling manager at MASkargo.
"With a tracker on each dolly, we now have complete visibility of the dollies across the airport grounds," he added.
The MASKargo executive noted that it constantly strives for innovation and cost-effective ways to improve terminal operations in line with its core belief of "Digital is our Universe".
"... We are on the lookout for unique and cost-effective ways to improve terminal operations. In working with the LoraWAN gateway and AWS IoT platform, we have eliminated manual searches and are able to monitor the dollies inventory in real-time for quick retrieval," Abu Bakar said.
"This, in turn, translates to better customer service and more efficient operations," he added.
