Frankfurt Airport (FRA) saw cargo volumes decrease at the beginning of the year after experiencing strong growth at the end of 2024.
Fraport, which operates Frankfurt Airport, said Frankfurt's cargo throughput, comprising airfreight and airmail, fell by 3.9% in January to 148,321 metric tons.
The number of aircraft movements was stable, with a slight 0.4% decrease to 30,938 takeoffs and landings.

For January, the total maximum takeoff weights were around 2.0 million metric tons.
Fraport noted that this represented a small reduction of 1.0% compared with the same month in 2024.
In December 2024, cargo volumes also edged down by 1.2% to 169,135 metric tons. This is lower than the 178,355 metric tons recorded in November and the 179,809 metric tons recorded in October.
At the end of 2024, Frankfurt Airport's cargo throughput grew by 6.2% year-on-year to 2.1 million metric tons in 2024.
