TURKISH CARGO LAUNCHES ISTANBUL CARGO TERMINAL

Turkish Cargo, the freight subsidiary of Turkish Airlines, has officially launched its new air cargo facility at Istanbul Ataturk airport.

The new terminal, fully financed for by Turkish Airlines, took only 10 months to complete and had opened in phases. Now fully operational, it has an annual capacity of 1.2 million tonnes and a total floor area of 71,000 square metres.

There are 39 special storage areas, such as for cold storage, live animals, valuable cargo and dangerous goods.

The terminal also has 5.5 times more capacity for inbound and outbound unit load devices, which eliminates one of the main inconveniences of the old facility, according to the airline.
