“It is with great pride and honour that Air France is taking delivery of its first Boeing 787, the 9th for Air France-KLM,” said Jean-Marc Janaillac, CEO of Air France-KLM. “Air France’s first e-enabled aircraft, the Dreamliner, marks a new stage in the modernization of our fleet.”

The aircraft, which is the 500th 787 manufactured by Boeing, is a 787-9 on lease from AerCap, which now has 50 787s.

“We are delighted to be a part of this significant milestone for both Air France and Boeing,” said Aengus Kelly, CEO of AerCap. “AerCap is the world’s largest lessor of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, with over 80 aircraft owned and on order. We wish our friends and partners at Boeing and Air France continued success.”

The aircraft will be operated on the Paris-Cairo route starting in January 2017.

The Air France-KLM Group has ordered a total of 18 787-9s and seven 787-10s, as well as 12 787-9s to be leased through AerCap, according to Boeing.
