LUFTHANSA CARGO LAUNCHES REAL-TIME TRACKING AND COOL TRUCKING

Lufthansa Cargo has launched an optional tracking service called liveSensor for sensitive or high-value goods, as well as a temperature-controlled trucking option.

According to the carrier, the tracking device gives information such as where a shipment is, whether the agreed transport conditions have been met, and parameters such as temperature, humidity and pressure.

liveSensor also detects alignment, vibrations and light exposure.

Customers will be charged a flat fee for the service, which will include delivery, collection and the ability to customize settings and define geofences.

liveSensor is now available in 13 European countries and the US, and will gradually be rolled out across the network, according to Lufthansa Cargo.

The new trucking option, called Road Feeder Service Cool, means that temperature-sensitive cargo can be actively or passively cooled on European road connections with Lufthansa flight numbers.

The carrier recently announced that it would be extending its Cool Center in Frankfurt, adding 3,500 square metres of space dedicated to handling cool chain cargo. It is expected to be complete by late summer, according to Lufthansa Cargo.
