Shipping management company Seaspan Corporation has taken delivery of the 14,000 TEU YM Wind.
According to Seaspan, the vessel will begin a fixed-rate charter with Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp. for 10 years, with an option to extend the term for an additional two years.
Seaspan has entered into a sale-leaseback transaction for YM Wind, providing gross proceeds of approximately US$144 million. Part of the proceeds will be used for the final delivery instalment of approximately US$75 million.
The lease has a term of 12 years. Seaspan has an option to purchase the vessel at a pre-determined fair value after 9.5 years.
The new ship was constructed by CSBC Corporation in Taiwan and is the ninth 14,000 TEU SAVER ship to join Seaspan’s fleet.
