OOCL VOLUMES UP 3.6% IN 2017

OOCL transported a total of 6,298,735 TEUs in 2017, a year-on-year increase of 3.6%, according to Orient Overseas (International) Limited’s unaudited fourth-quarter operational update.

Total revenue for the year grew by 15.4% to approximately US5.4 billion.

 

In 2017, the shipping line increased its total loadable capacity by 5.1%, but the overall load factor was 1.2% lower than in 2016. The average revenue per TEU rose by 11.4%.

 

For the fourth quarter of 2017, total volumes were 3.3% down compared to the fourth quarter of 2016.

 

OOCL experienced the highest growth on the Asia-Europe trade lane, having 19.7% more TEUs than in 2016. Total revenue on the trade lane for 2017 also grew by 43.9% year-on-year, according to OOIL.
