IAG CARGO AND QATAR CARGO PASS 1000 MARK WITH HONG KONG FREIGHTER FLIGHT

Qatar Airways Cargo has operated the 1000th freighter flight from Hong Kong to London Stansted for IAG Cargo.

The two carriers entered into a long-term block space agreement for the route in May 2014, operated five times a week by a Qatar Boeing 777 Freighter.

Since then, IAG has moved over 70 million kilos of freight for customers on the lane, equivalent to over 11,500 African elephants.

Commodities transported in the past four years have included garments, CCTV equipment, fidget spinners, tablet PCs, headphones and watches, according to IAG.

The two carriers expanded the partnership in 2015 to include routes such as Chennai to London, Delhi to London, Dhaka to London, Mumbai to London, and Shanghai to Madrid.

IAG Cargo has not had its own dedicated freighter capacity since the beginning of 2014, when British Airways World Cargo terminated a lease for three 747-8Fs operated by Global Supply Systems, a UK subsidiary of Atlas Air.
