APL LAUNCHES REEFER SERVICE FROM CHU LAI

APL has begun transporting reefer shipments on its Chu Lai Express service.

According to APL, it recently handled the first reefer shipment of bananas departing from Chu Lai’s Tam Hiep Port on the CHX service to China.

“The milestone marks the inroads we are making with the CHX service that started a direct route to Chu Lai in Central Vietnam last year,” said Arnaud Coudray, chief commercial officer of APL. “The service is dedicated to serving Chu Lai’s emerging industrial zones in Quang Nam and her neighbouring Central Coast and Central Highlands provinces. APL’s CHX service has been growing as part of the business ecosystem that enables Vietnamese exporters and importers to gain immediate access to South China and Hong Kong where cargoes are relayed worldwide.”

Each week, the CHX service calls at the ports of Chu Lai, Hong Kong and Shekou, offering intra-Asia connections in Hong Kong and Shekou to Japan, Korea, Singapore, Europe, the Middle East and the US.

APL expects more reefer shipments ahead from the port, where Truong Hai Automobile Joint-Stock Company recently inaugurated a new cold storage facility and further develops its logistics infrastructure in the Chu Lai Open Economic Zone.

The shipping line offers a range of reefer solutions such as SMARTcare+ to regulate the atmosphere inside the container and SMARTcool to eliminate pests without fumigation.
