K+N TO MANAGE LOGISTICS FOR A380 REFURBISHMENT PROJECT

Kuehne + Nagel has been awarded a three-year logistics contract by Singapore Airlines for the refurbishment of 14 of its Airbus A380 aircraft.

According to Kuehne + Nagel, it will provide end-to-end digital support and manage the material from pick-up at suppliers via all modes of transport to a Singapore-certified aerospace logistics hub, where the material is received, inspected, kitted and handed over to hangar maintenance in time and sequence.

“This A380 refurbishment project is one of the most prestigious aircraft refurbishment projects in the aerospace industry due to its huge scale and technical complexity and we are excited about this partnership with Singapore Airlines,” said Erik Goedhart, senior vice president of aerospace at Kuehne + Nagel. “Our KN InteriorChain solution will be the backbone for the A380 fleet refurbishments. KN InteriorChain is seen as an innovative solution to the logistical requirements of an organization’s refurbishment project. We developed and launched it as an end-to-end digital logistics solution covering the entire lifecycle of aircraft interiors.”

Through certified systems, processes and experts, KN InteriorChain allows organizations to concentrate on ensuring high standards of interior installation and refurbishment while Kuehne + Nagel focuses on delivery of parts on schedule.

Over 300 aircraft have been refurbished with the help of the KN InteriorChain solution and are back in operation, according to Kuehne + Nagel.
