EMIRATES ADDS CAPACITY TO MEXICO, DHAKA

Emirates has recently launched a new daily service to Mexico City from Dubai via Barcelona and is set to add its fourth daily flight to Dhaka, Bangladesh in March 2020, increasing its available capacity for cross-border cargo service between the routes.

The aircraft used in the December 9 inaugural flight to Mexico is Emirates’ newly refurbished two-class Boeing 777-200LR which offers 38 business class seats and 264 seats in the economy class with up to 14 tonnes of cargo capacity.

The new service to Dhaka, meanwhile, will be operated by a Boeing 777-300ER in a two-class configuration, featuring 42 business class and 310 economy class seats. This will add 280 tonnes of cargo capacity each way, every week adding to Emirates SkyCargo's existing cargo capacity of more than 800 tonnes every week.

Increased demand

Emirates has carried over 33,000 tonnes of cargo on the Mexico route early 2018. For its Bangladesh service, the Dubai-based carrier noted that demand has also been increasing over the years.

“Since our announcement of Emirates’ planned fourth daily service to Dhaka, we’ve experienced healthy forward bookings and seen a significant uptake in demand for the service. It is a sign of the country’s strong economic growth, its allure as a trade and business partner globally,” said Ahmed Khoory, Emirates’ senior vice president commercial West Asia & Indian Ocean.

The new service will also benefit customers with a more varied and flexible schedule, as well as smooth and seamless connectivity to Europe, the Americas, Africa and the Middle East, he added.

The Emirates flight to Mexico departs daily from Dubai at 03:30 local time, arriving at Barcelona at 08:00 a.m. local time before departing again at 09:55 to Mexico and arriving at 16:15 local time. The return flight is scheduled to depart Mexico at 19:40 local time, arrive at Barcelona at 13:25 the next day, with onward flight to Dubai at 15:10 local time.

The Dhaka flight will depart Dubai at 10:30 pm and arrive in Dhaka at 5:20 am next day. The return flight will depart Dhaka at 8 am and arrive in Dubai at 11 am  creating a convenient connection to several popular cities, including London, Rome, Frankfurt, Porto, New York, Washington, D.C., Mexico City, Johannesburg and Cape Town, Emirates said.
