The construction of the first automated sea-rail terminal in China has begun at Qinzhou port in Guangxi province in southern China, bordering Vietnam.
The two, 100,000 tonnes-class automated berths are scheduled to be operational by 2022 with an annual handling capacity of 1.25 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs).
The terminal, once completed, will be the fifth automated container terminal in the country and the first sea-rail automated container terminal.
The project is part of efforts to ramp-up intelligent port construction in China.
