CMA CGM ADDS LA REUNION TO NEMO LINE

The CMA CGM Group has upgraded its NEMO service by adding a new call at Pointe des Galets port in La Reunion Island, Fos in France and Salerno in Italy from December 11.

The new service will offer a direct connection between Northern Europe, Southern Europe, La Reunion Island, India, Singapore and Australia.

The port rotation will be: Tilbury – Hamburg – Rotterdam – Le Havre – Fos – Genova – Damietta – Pointe des Galets – Fremantle – Melbourne – Sydney – Adelaide – Singapore – Port Kelang – Chennai – Colombo – Cochin – Damietta – Malta – Salerno.

CMA CGM said that it would be operating seven of the 13 4,200 TEU vessels being deployed on the route, while the other six will be operated by Hapag-Lloyd.

According to CMA CGM, transit time to La Reunion Island will be 21 days from Le Havre and 16 days from Fos, and Pointe des Galets will be called every Wednesday.

The call at Pointe des Galets will offer transhipment connections to Africa, Madagascar and Mauritius, and is part of CMA CGM’s strategy to develop La Reunion Island as its maritime hub in the Indian Ocean, following a memorandum of understanding signed in August 2014.
