OOCL PERFORMANCE DOWN FOR 2015

Total cargo volumes at Orient Overseas Container Line dropped 0.2% in 2015 compared to 2014, according to statistics released by Orient Overseas (International) Limited.

 

However, volumes in the fourth quarter of 2015 were 2.0% higher than the same period in 2014.

 

Of the 5,575,874 TEUs carried by OOCL in 2015, the Asia-Europe trade experienced the biggest year-on-year decline at 8.8%, followed by trans-Atlantic at 5.0%. The trans-Pacific and Intra-Asia/Australasia trades increased by 2.3% and 2.2% respectively.

 

The overall load factor for the year was 4.4% lower than that for 2014, as available capacity went up by 6.0%.

 

OOCL’s total revenue for 2015 decreased 10.1% to approximately US$5.2 billion.
