SHENZHEN PORT'S CARGO THROUGHPUT REACHED 60M TONNES IN Q1

Shenzhen Port recorded a total cargo throughput of 59.68 million tonnes in the first quarter of 2022 which includes over 47 million tonnes of foreign trade cargo.

The major gateway in the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen said in the first three months of this year, the port also saw its container throughput exceed 6.48 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs).

"Facing the ongoing threat of COVID-19 outbreaks, the port has taken stringent epidemic prevention and control measures while safeguarding its smooth operation," Shenzhen Port said, according to state-owned media.

Xinhua said in a report that the port has launched a fast water route to supply Hong Kong with materials and multiple shipping routes to North America and Europe, which has helped to ensure the stability of the global industrial chain and supply chain.

The port's Yantian harbor area has added seven international routes this year.

Meanwhile, currently, the area's shipping routes to North America and Europe can reach all the major ports in regions including the east and west coast of the United States, Europe as well as Canada.

The port's Shekou harbor area has 189 international shipping routes, remaining a major distribution center and transit port for the southern parts of China.
