MSC Air Cargo has added a new service between South Korea and the United States as part of its continued expansion.

The Seoul-Indianapolis flight will be operated twice weekly and served through MSC Air Cargo's B777-200Fs, operated with Atlas Air.

The flights will initially operate on an irregular basis but will switch to regular flights later in 2023.

MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company SA, the world's largest shipping line, earlier announced its new cargo airline segment to meet global demand for freight transport.

MSC has also launched Liege Airport in Belgium as the European hub for its new air cargo carrier. 

MSC Air Cargo's first four B777-200Fs, recently delivered, will be based at LGG to be operated on its behalf by Atlas Air. 

MSC noted that it would utilize Liege as a connecting hub to link its services to Indianapolis and México City in North America and Hong Kong in Asia.

"Incheon International Airport plans to strategically collaborate with cargo airlines launched by global shipping companies to lay the groundwork for creating new cargo volumes, such as vitalizing multimodal cargo transportation by sea and air," said Kyung Wook Kim, president and chief executive of Incheon International Airport, adding that the hub is looking to attract more service connections from Incheon.

"We will continue to strengthen Incheon International Airport's competitiveness in air logistics by developing new cargo terminals and attracting investment while maintaining its 2nd place ranking in international cargo traffic volume through expansion of logistics infrastructure and networks," the executive added.

The shipping line earlier noted it is developing MSC Air Cargo as a complementary service to its ocean container shipping solutions.

"The new solution will be available from early 2023, following the delivery of the first of four MSC-branded Boeing 777-200F aircraft that will be operated by Atlas Air," MSC added.
