FRANKFURT AIRPORT REPORTED A CONTINUED UPTREND IN AIR CARGO FOR JULY

Frankfurt Airport (FRA) recorded another month of increase in air cargo volumes for July — and is also higher than its performance during the same period last year.

Europe's busiest cargo airport said air cargo throughput —  comprising airfreight and airmail — in Frankfurt reached 164,503 metric tons last month, exceeding the July 2022 level by 2.3%.

"Cargo traffic also increased slightly during July 2023," FRA said in a statement.

Month-on-month, July's air freight volumes were also higher compared to the 160,047 metric tonnes it recorded in June.

Frankfurt Airport noted that aircraft movements increased 16.1% year-on-year to 40,626 takeoffs and landings.

Likewise, accumulated maximum takeoff weights (or MTOWs) expanded by 13.5% year-on-year to approximately 2.5 million metric tons in the reporting month.

In June, FRA,  which operates Frankfurt Airport, said the slowdown in cargo traffic last month reflected the overall economic slowdown.
