FEDEX LAUNCHES COLD CHAIN CENTRE IN MEMPHIS

FedEx Express has opened its cold chain centre at its World Hub in Memphis, Tennessee.

According to FedEx, the 7,710m2 facility is designed to protect the integrity of temperature-sensitive healthcare and perishable shipments, and is an integral part of the company’s global cold chain network.

“Modern cold chain logistics capabilities are opening up new possibilities for Asia Pacific’s healthcare sector,” said Karen Reddington, president of FedEx Express Asia Pacific. “Today, shipping even the most sensitive products such as biopharmaceuticals around the world, which would have been difficult or impossible just a few years ago, has become easier than ever. The state-of-the-art FedEx Cold Chain Center Memphis places FedEx firmly at the leading edge of the revolution that is sweeping the global healthcare logistics market.”

The facility offers areas with three temperature ranges: -25 to -10°C, +2 to +8°C and +15 to +25°C. Temperature, humidity and carbon dioxide are monitored in real-time.

FedEx operates smaller-scale cold chain facilities at Charles de Gaulle Airport in France, Cologne Bonn Airport in Germany and Kansai International Airport in Japan, according to the company.
