United Airlines has launched its San Francisco-Auckland non-stop flight.
The new flight is operated by a Boeing 787-8.
According to United, the flight is also operated in partnership with the Asia and Pacific Initiative to Reduce Emissions, under which air traffic controllers will support optimal flight paths and recommend real-time dynamic reroutes to optimize efficiency. Ground crews will also provide expedited taxi routes to the runway and gate at both airports to reduce aircraft idle time.
“We understand the importance of reducing our carbon footprint, even as we expand our global network,” said Jim Compton, vice chairman and chief revenue officer of United Airlines. “Working with ASPIRE is just one way we’re demonstrating our environmental leadership within the industry.”
