AIR CANADA CARGO EXPANDS CAPACITY IN KEY ASIAN MARKETS
January 10, 2025

Air Canada Cargo is increasing its capacity in important Asian markets this year, boosting its presence and offering in the Transpacific trade.

The cargo subsidiary of Air Canada said shippers now have more capacity and flexibility to ship cargo to/from China's major economic hubs, including electronics, industrial equipment, clothing and perishables.

"We've increased our service to China with the launch of flights to Beijing starting January 15, in addition to daily service to Shanghai," Air Canada Cargo said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the carrier also announced increased cargo capacity to and from Manila, the capital of the Philippines in Southeast Asia.

Air Canada Cargo said Air Canada is launching a non-stop service between Vancouver and Manila starting in April 2025.

"We are continuing the strategic expansion of our global network with the launch of our new route to the Philippines," the announcement said.

It noted that Air Canada is the only Canadian carrier scheduled to serve the Philippines, one of the largest markets in Asia to be added to the Air Canada network.

Starting April 2, 2025, Air Canada will have a 4x weekly service from Vancouver to Manila, bringing the carrier to over 100 weekly flights between Canada and Asia-Pacific next summer, the most non-stop flights of any carrier in the market.

Air Canada Cargo also noted new widebody routes entering service in January, including a 5x weekly service to and from Beijing (PEK), 5x weekly service in Auckland (AKL), New Zealand, daily flights to and from Bangkok (BKK), and daily flights to and from Shanghai (PVG) in China.
