LAZADA SIGNS STRATEGIC AGREEMENT WITH CHINA POST
July 13, 2016

Southeast Asian e-commerce website Lazada and state-owned China Post Group have signed a strategic agreement to collaborate on and improve cross-border logistics solutions for Chinese sellers.

According to Lazada, the agreement covers delivery options for merchants selling small and light items, financial solutions such as micro-credit loans and online payment options, warehousing solutions, logistics education and training, as well as seller on-boarding in the longer term.

“Lazada is committed to deliver a best-in-class online selling experience to our partners and a comprehensive, reliable and competitively priced logistics solution is a key element to achieve this,” said Maximilian Bittner, CEO of Lazada Group. “We are pleased to partner with China Post which, with its strong postal network in Southeast Asia and expertise in postal services, will be a vital partner as Lazada attracts more brands and merchants to bring a wider product assortment to consumers in the region.”

Zhang Ronglin, vice president of China Post, said that his company’s logistics business had been growing rapidly because of the rise of e-commerce, and that China Post is now the main postal service provider for cross-border sellers in China.

“As Southeast Asia becomes the next growth market for e-commerce, we see an opportunity to do more for postal deliveries to the region,” he said. “Through our partnership with Lazada – the leading e-commerce platform in the region with an established logistics infrastructure – we will improve our existing cross-border delivery services, and build a reliable, end-to-end logistics solution for both of our customers.”

Lazada was launched in 2012 and operates websites in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
