FRANKFURT SEES STEADY CARGO TRAFFIC IN FEBRUARY
March 14, 2025

Frankfurt Airport (FRA) maintained steady cargo volume in February after a decline at the start of the year, which followed a robust end in 2024.

Fraport, which operates Frankfurt Airport, said Frankfurt's cargo throughput, comprising airfreight and airmail, declined marginally by 0.9% year-on-year in February 2025 to 152,069 metric tonnes.

This is, however, higher month-on-month compared to the 148,321 metric tonnes recorded by the airport in January.

"In February 2024, the extra leap day additionally boosted traffic volumes. At the same time, however, strikes on several days during that month negatively impacted passenger figures, offsetting the positive leap-year effect," Fraport said in a statement.

For the period, aircraft movements totaled 30,182 takeoffs and landings, representing no change from the previous year.

Meanwhile, accumulated maximum takeoff weights (MTOWs) slightly contracted by 0.8% year-on-year to around 1.9 million metric tons.

At the end of 2024, Frankfurt Airport's cargo throughput grew by 6.2% year-on-year to 2.1 million metric tons in 2024.
