Saudia Cargo has announced the launch of new freighter routes from Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport (CGO) in China to Liège Airport (LGG) in Belgium and from Liège Airport to Saudi Arabia.
The Saudi Arabian airfreight flag carrier said the initiative seeks to expand its global network and support the rapid growth of the e-commerce sector and trade between Asia and Europe through the Kingdom, aligning with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 — a program that seeks to diversify the country's economy, among others.
The freighter flights will operate directly from Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport (CGO) in China to Liège Airport (LGG) with two weekly flights, facilitating the transportation of goods in collaboration with e-commerce platforms, merchants, and logistics providers.
"These new strategic routes represent promising opportunities for our customers, contributing to shaping a new era of global trade between Europe, the Middle East, and Asia," said Marwan Niazi, senior vice president of Sales at Saudia Cargo.
"The addition of the Liège and Zhengzhou routes will be a game-changer in our operations. It not only enhances our ability to meet the growing demand in the region but also solidifies our position as a leading global air cargo company."
Niazi noted that this expansion will also enable Saudia Cargo to provide advanced solutions that support the sustainable growth of its customers and partners and reflect the company's ongoing commitment to achieving mutual success.
"Leveraging its position as an effective strategic hub connecting global supply chains and contributing to strengthening the Kingdom's position as a global logistics center, Saudia Cargo seeks to implement the highest standards of operational excellence and provide integrated solutions that meet the aspirations of the company's customers."
He pointed out that the expansion of destinations and freight routes will support the growth of the business sector and the expansion of its activities.
Saudia Cargo's direct flight route from Liège Airport in Belgium to King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, effective April 3, increases the total weekly flights operated by the company from Liège to 11 weekly flights.
The carrier said this reflects a significant presence for the company in the European continent and highlights its role in transporting shipments that require speed in delivery.
