FRANKFURT CARGO SERVICES EXPANDS E-COMMERCE HANDLING FACILITY BY 300%
May 29, 2025

Frankfurt Cargo Services (FCS), a subsidiary of Worldwide Flight Services (WFS), a SATS company, said it recently won a contract with EDT–eDirect Transport, a global logistics platform offering cross-border e-commerce between China and Europe.

Under this agreement, FCS said it will provide comprehensive E-commerce & Freight Forwarder Handling (EFFH) services at Frankfurt Airport.

This latest development extends WFS and SATS’ cooperation with EDT, which already includes agreements for e-commerce handling at CDG and LGG airports.

FCS said this also reflects WFS and SATS’ commitment to the e-commerce industry to enable faster throughput of shipments at all stations.

Ecommerce handling facility expansion

“The new contract in Frankfurt coincides with FCS’ investment to expand its dedicated e-commerce handling facility at Germany’s biggest air logistics gateway by 300% to 2,000 sqm,” the announcement said, adding that FCS will commence specialist handling of import e-commerce shipments for EDT.

Under the terms of the agreement, FCS will support EDT by providing enhanced services for import units in FCS’s first-line warehouse with direct ramp access.

The service facilitates the quick breakdown, sortation, and delivery to the last-mile transportation provider under agreed process timings.

Mostly destined for the German consumer market, EDT e-commerce shipments arrive on board scheduled carriers, including major Chinese airline clients of FCS in Frankfurt.

“With our investment to expand e-commerce handling capacity in Frankfurt, FCS is sending a clear signal to leading companies like EDT that we are supporting their special service requirements, and we are making a strong commitment to these partnerships”

“In addition to greater capacity, we have a specialist team for e-commerce handling, and this, along with our existing contracts with major airlines serving the German market from key origin points in China, has enabled us to win EDT’s business,” Claus Wagner, managing director of FCS, said.

Wagner noted that ecommerce traffic into Germany is growing strongly, and this cooperation with EDT as one of its first dedicated e-commerce customers will further develop Frankfurt Airport’s reputation as a premier hub for e-commerce in Europe, supported by the local Customs authority.
