Air cargo capacity at Oslo Airport is getting a boost as Menzies World Cargo establishes operations at Norway's largest airport. The company completed its acquisition of Spirit on September 1 and has now launched operations at Gardermoen.
"We are very pleased that Menzies World Cargo is now becoming part of the Oslo Airport community," says Eva Beate Lande, head of cargo at Avinor.
"Their establishment strengthens both capacity and services within cargo, providing airlines and businesses with an even stronger foundation for further growth."
Menzies noted that the acquisition means that it is taking over operations from Spirit, which for many years has been an important player in cargo and ground services at the airport.
Oslo Airport has added a new cargo operator with the arrival of Menzies Aviation, which already provides ground handling services at the site. The company's international experience and network are expected to support future growth in Gardermoen’s cargo operations and service development.
Oslo Airport plays a central role as a hub for Norwegian exports and imports.
Menzies noted that a "broad and competitive" cargo offering is crucial for the seafood industry, manufacturing, and other exporters. Menzies World Cargo will help strengthen this position even further, Lande said.
Avinor looks forward to a good partnership with Menzies World Cargo and to further developing Oslo Airport as an efficient and modern hub for air cargo in the Nordic region.
