Global GSA Group has expanded its cargo portfolio in Spain after subsidiary Mondial Airline Services Spain won the tender to represent China Southern Airlines Cargo and supported the rollout of the carrier's new Madrid–Guangzhou connection.
China Southern began operating the three-times-weekly Boeing 787-9 service on December 2, 2025, adding direct cargo capacity between China and the Spanish capital.
Mondial Airline Services Spain is now serving as China Southern Airlines Cargo's local representative, overseeing the preparations for the carrier’s entry into the Spanish market. The company has established a dedicated team in Madrid to manage commercial activities, act as the primary contact for local customers and support day‑to‑day operational processes, effectively functioning as an extension of China Southern’s cargo organization in Spain.
The first of the new Madrid (MAD) with Guangzhou-Baiyun (CAN) transported a mix of general cargo and temperature-sensitive products.
The announcement said the new service provides a direct connection to one of China’s major commercial and cargo hubs, with onward widebody links available to other destinations in China, Asia, Australia and New Zealand through China Southern's network.
Bookings can be accepted for general cargo, time-sensitive shipments, and a wide range of specialized products including typical Spanish exports such as temperature-controlled pharmaceuticals or seafood. Each Boeing 787-9 flight offers a capacity of 15,000 kg and 80 m³.
"Global GSA Group already enjoys a long and rewarding partnership with China Southern Airlines Cargo in a number of European countries and is grateful to the airline for continuing to place its trust in our services," said Aytekin Saray, chief executive officer of Global GSA Group.
"We are delighted to represent China Southern Airlines Cargo now also in Spain, and will ensure that this new routing very quickly becomes profitable through our access to state-of-the-art digital solutions offering real-time market intelligence, Mondial's substantial local knowledge and its close collaboration with Spain's freight forwarding community."
"Mondial Airline Services Spain is committed to supporting China Southern’s expansion into Spain and its team plays a critical role in aligning the airline's global strategy with local market realities to ensure long-term route performance," Saray added.
