Qatar Airways Cargo will use Doha International Airport (DIA) only as a temporary technical stop for freighter operations between April and June 2026, according to multiple media reports.
The airline issued the clarification after reports suggested it was shifting cargo flights away from Hamad International Airport (HIA), its primary hub.
In statements shared with several outlets, the carrier said the move is operational and time‑limited.
"Hamad International Airport (HIA) remains Qatar Airways Cargo's primary hub for all cargo operations and will be using Doha International Airport (DIA) only as a temporary tech‑stop during the period April 2026 to June 2026," the airline said.
The carrier described the arrangement as a routine operational measure, typically used for refueling, maintenance or other short‑duration requirements, and emphasized that it does not represent a permanent relocation of freighter activity.
Asia Cargo News sought further details on the technical stop from Qatar Airways Cargo and HIA.
Doha International Airport served as Qatar's main airport until 2014 and continues to support select aviation operations.
Qatar Airways Cargo operates one of the world's largest airfreight networks, with dedicated freighters and extensive belly‑hold capacity across its passenger fleet.
Qatar Airways Cargo lists 28 Boeing 777-200F freighters in its active fleet on its official fleet page, while independent fleet tracking data shows 29 freighters in service, all Boeing 777Fs.
Meanwhile, Qatar Airways offers over 170 passenger destinations supporting belly-hold cargo uplift.
