Evergreen Marine has placed an order for 16 new 3,000‑TEU containerships with CSSC Huangpu‑Wenchong Shipbuilding, marking the Chinese yard's largest single‑type vessel contract to date.
The deal, signed with Evergreen Marine Asia, extends the Taiwanese carrier's ongoing fleet renewal programme and deepens its partnership with the Guangzhou‑based builder.
The vessels, scheduled for delivery between 2028 and 2030, will be equipped with modern fuel‑saving and emissions‑reduction technologies as Evergreen continues to upgrade its regional fleet and align with tightening environmental requirements.
Various reports said the sixteen 3,000-TEU container vessels are valued between US$736 million and US$896 million.
For Huangpu‑Wenchong, the order sets a new benchmark and reinforces its position in the feeder‑ship segment.
The shipyard said the contract reflects growing demand for efficient, lower‑emission tonnage and highlights its ability to support carriers’ decarbonisation strategies.
Evergreen and Huangpu‑Wenchong first began working together in 2021. With this latest deal, the carrier has ordered 30 vessels from the yard, 24 of which have already been delivered.
