CMA CGM will introduce an Inland Emergency Fuel Surcharge (IEFS) across parts of the Middle East from March 23, citing sharp increases in fuel costs that are affecting both ocean and inland transport operations.
The surcharge will apply within a defined geographic scope and remains subject to regulatory filings where required.
The ocean carrier said fuel price volatility has intensified in recent weeks, putting pressure on the cost of moving containers across the supply chain, including trucking and other inland modes.
The IEFS is intended to offset these rising expenses and maintain service continuity in the region.
"The CMA CGM Group remains fully mobilized to support your supply chains and maintain the highest level of service despite the unprecedented volatility in fuel markets," the company said, adding that it is committed to transparency as conditions evolve.
CMA CGM noted that its teams are monitoring the situation closely and will update customers on any significant developments. Shippers seeking more information are encouraged to contact their local CMA CGM representative.
