MAERSK NOT MAKING ANY CHANGES TO SERVICES DESPITE CEASEFIRE
April 8, 2026

A.P. Moller–Maersk (Maersk) said it is maintaining its current service suspensions and diversions in the Gulf region, for now, despite the April 7 ceasefire announcement between the United States and Iran, warning that conditions in and around the Strait of Hormuz remain too uncertain to resume normal operations.

In a customer advisory, the carrier said it "welcomes the announced ceasefire and the public statements that commercial passage through the Strait of Hormuz may again be possible – albeit for now for a limited period.

Maersk stressed that information remains scarce and that the truce does not yet provide the level of predictability needed for safe transit.

"Information and details available remain very limited and we are working with urgency to obtain further clarity," the company said. "The ceasefire may create transit opportunities, but it does not yet provide full maritime certainty, and we need to understand all potential conditions attached."

Maersk reiterated that the safety of its crews and vessels remains its primary concern.

"Any decision to transit the Strait of Hormuz will be based on continuous risk assessments, close monitoring of the security situation, and available guidance from relevant authorities and partners," the Maersk advisory, added.

No changes to services despite ceasefire

The carrier said visibility in the region "is low" and that it expects conditions to remain fluid in the coming days. As a result, Maersk is keeping its current network adjustments in place.

"At this point, we are taking a cautious approach, and we are not making any changes to specific services," Maersk said.

Maersk also warned that the situation remains volatile despite the ceasefire. "Whilst the ceasefire is a positive step towards stability, the situation in the region remains volatile. We will continue to monitor developments closely and provide updates as greater clarity emerges over the coming days."
