WCA Ltd. has launched a logistics network dedicated to the e-commerce market.
According to WCA, the network is the first neutral platform which promotes product development, new partnerships and business growth in the e-commerce sector.
“By 2020 it is projected that freight forwarding will be 20% e-commerce driven,” said David Yokeum, founder and chairman of WCA. “Our decision to become involved in e-commerce is a direct result of these projections. Our utmost concern is that network members are supported, and provided with the tools and opportunities necessary for them to become leaders in -commerce logistics.”
WCA eCommerce is open to all independent freight forwarders and has already received membership applications from more than 100 companies.
“The response has been phenomenal,” said Dan March, chief executive officer of WCA. “We have been approached by a number of the world’s largest internet retailers and online marketplaces, all wishing to employ the network to meet their ambitious international expansion plans for B2B, B2C, and C2C business.”
Companies first join at the eMember level to gain access to resources such as webinars, training sessions and consulting. They can then apply for eVendor status, which allows them to trade with other partners.
“To become a certified eVendor a member must undergo a comprehensive eCommerce capabilities audit,” said Alex Allen, managing director of WCA eCommerce. “As an eVendor, the company is free to offer logistics services back to the network. The beauty for eVendors is that they are also fully covered by WCA’s industry-leading financial protection program.”
The network plans to launch benefits such as comprehensive shipment insurance, IT solutions and preferred rates on global and domestic last-mile deliveries in 2017, according to WCA.
