Hong Kong Airlines will launch a non-stop flight to Vancouver on June 30, 2017.

The daily flight, which will initially be operated with an Airbus A330-200, will be the airline’s first trans-Pacific route.

The announcement was made at the airline’s 10^th anniversary celebration, during which Zhang Kui, co-chairman of Hong Kong Airlines Limited, confirmed that the company would be taking delivery of its first A350-900 in August 2017. The airline has 15 on order.

Hong Kong Airlines currently flies to 36 cities in the Asia-Pacific region. It began long-haul operations earlier this year, with the launch of Cairns and Gold Coast in January, followed by Auckland in November.

Air Canada also flies a daily Boeing 777-300ER non-stop between Vancouver and Hong Kong, while Cathay Pacific, which operates two daily 777-300ER flights between the two cities, is scheduled to add a third daily flight using an A350-900 in March 2017.
