CMA CGM has opened its Navigation and Port Operations Center at APL’s corporate headquarters in Singapore.
According to CMA CGM, the new facility is capable of real-time tracking and has access to a wide range of meteorological and geographical information such as ocean currents, weather forecasts and ocean traffic 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The centre uses that information to assess, anticipate and mitigate any potential navigational and operational risks, providing vessel crews with appropriate guidance and alerts on how to optimize routes, speeds and fuel consumption.
The French shipping line committed to making Singapore a key maritime hub after its acquisition of Neptune Orient Lines in 2016.
The Singapore facility is CMA CGM’s first command centre serving the Asian time zone. The company has two other centres in Marseille and Miami.
