DHL EXPANDS GLOBAL INSURANCE SERVICE IN AFRICA
May 2, 2017

DHL Global Forwarding has expanded its all-risks Cargo Insurance service to Ghana, Kenya, Morocco and Mozambique in order to protect customers against damage or loss during transportation.

According to DHL, the service can be arranged as an annual policy covering all shipments transported with DHL Global Forwarding or on an ad-hoc basis per air, ocean, road or rail shipment.

The policy covers the full commercial value of the goods, transportation costs proportional to the loss or damage and an additional 10% of the goods’ value.

“With DHL Cargo Insurance, we are offering our customers an opportunity to minimize potential impact of unforeseen external events,” said Angelos Orfanos, global head of marketing and sales at DHL Global Forwarding. “Our scale means we can arrange coverage between almost any country in the world and for any type of cargo including specialist, high risk or high-value goods. By continuously expanding our service, we can support our customers where they operate, even in emerging and high-risk markets.”

Customers raising a claim will be able to do so at a local service desk and settle the claim in the local currency. DHL is aiming for a maximum of 30 days for claims to be resolved.

The service is now available in 74 countries worldwide, according to DHL.
