CMA CGM has launched its Midas 2 service, a second connection between India, the Indian Ocean, the Middle East and Southern and Western Africa.
“The duplication of the Midas service allows us to improve both our service offering with competitive transit times and a greater capacity as well as the access to new markets between South Africa and the Indian Ocean,” said Bertrand Simon, director of Africa lines at CMA CGM.
Six ships of 2,500 TEUs will be deployed on the Midas 2 service, which will take 42 days to complete a rotation. The Midas 1 service will be operated by 10 4,250 TEU vessels with over 600 plugs for reefers on a 70-day rotation.
The two Midas services will be operated through a vessel-sharing agreement with two partners, according to CMA CGM.
