Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement’s Hong Kong Ship Management Centre has begun full management of the 20,146 TEU MOL Tribute.
Built by Samsung Heavy Industries in South Korea, the 400-metre-long vessel is the first ultra-large container ship to be managed by BSM. Sister ship MOL Tradition will also come under BSM management at the end of August 2017.
According to BSM, the process to select and appoint a ship manager was commenced by the owner about two years ago. BSM was selected after visits to the Hong Kong Ship Management Centre, the Mumbai Maritime Training Centre and on board large container vessels already being managed by the company.
BSM has been managing bulk carriers, container ships and tankers for MOL for almost 30 years.
BSM manages a fleet of 600 vessels through 10 ship management centres, 26 crew service centres and five maritime training centres around the world.
