The ship is operating her maiden voyage on the Asia-North Europe Loop 1 service. It is the second in a series of six 21,413 vessels ordered by OOCL. Her sister ship OOCL Hong Kong first arrived at the terminal in July 2017.

“Although we are in the meantime witnessing the world’s largest container vessels at Wilhelmshaven on a weekly basis, each occasion is still something very special,” said Mikkel Andersen, managing director of Eurogate Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven. “We are delighted that the world’s largest container ship, with a capacity of 21,413 TEUs, is calling at Wilhelmshaven. We see this as a sign that our customer OOCL is very happy with the performance of the container terminal.”

As part of the welcome ceremony, employees had arranged containers to form the number 21413 on the stowage area near the berth of the ship, according to Eurogate.
