Delta Cargo has expanded the availability of its DASH Critical & Medical product to 15 locations in the US, with further expansion planned for next year.
According to Delta, the GPS-enabled, same-day product is now available from Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Cincinnati, Detroit, LaGuardia (New York), Los Angeles, Memphis, Minneapolis, Orlando, Rochester (New York), Salt Lake City, San Francisco, Savannah and Seattle, with service to 89 mainland US destinations and Hawaii.
DASH Critical & Medical was launched earlier this year and allows for real-time tracking and monitoring of any eligible shipment. Customers can ship items up until 45 minutes prior to scheduled flight departure.
“We started using DASH Critical & Medical because we were in need of a good way to track our packages from dropoff to pickup,” said Todd Sand, northeast regional transportation manager of veterinary diagnostic laboratory Antech Diagnostics. “We liked the idea of having an extra 15 minutes to tender our boxes and the guaranteed 45-minute offload time but what really caught our eye was the GPS that is attached to every package. The GPS took a huge load off our shoulders, knowing that if something happened we would know where the box was and could retrieve it in minutes. Our experience using DASH Critical & Medical has been fantastic.”
DASH Critical & Medical is aimed at small, time-sensitive packages such as medical commodities, legal documents, essential machinery parts and aircraft-on-the-ground components. All shipments have pink packaging and include GPS tracking which is proactively monitored by a dedicated team throughout the journey.
If delivery is impacted by irregular operations such as limited flying due to bad weather, the monitoring team will proactively contact local airports to help coordinate the export, transfer and import of all DASH Critical & Medical shipments. The product is backed by a service-level guarantee when pre-booked electronically, and 100% of freight charges will be refunded if the shipment arrives over 45 minutes after the actual flight arrival time, according to Delta.
