Thai Airways International has announced that it will be operating its European network as normal, having not been named in the European Union’s air safety list.

On June 25, 2015, the European Commission updated the list of airlines banned within the EU. A red flag was placed on Thailand’s Department of Civil Aviation. The International Civil Aviation Organization had also issued a warning earlier this month, saying that Thailand was a “significant safety concern” following findings from ICAO’s Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme.

Charamporn Jotikasthira, president of Thai Airways International, said that because the airline was not listed, it would continue to operate its scheduled flights to Brussels, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, London, Madrid, Milan, Munich, Oslo, Paris, Rome, Stockholm and Zurich.

Thai already has a contingency plan for business continuity in case of major operational disruption, according to a statement.

Thai said that it “values the public concern on aviation safety,” and said that it would “continue to operate under the high safety standards of the European Aviation Safety Agency.”
