FLEXPORT APPOINTS CHIEF PEOPLE OFFICER AND VP OF DESIGN
May 8, 2018

Digital forwarder Flexport has appointed Paige DeLacey as its new chief people officer and David Robinson as its VP of design.

According to Flexport, the two key hires will be integral to retaining its unique company culture and approach to global logistics design as it grows. The company has more than doubled its headcount to 700 in the past year and expanded its footprint to nine offices and three warehouses around the world.

DeLacey will oversee functions such as recruiting, people operations and Flexport’s employee learning and development programmes. She will also lead its inclusion and diversity programmes.

DeLacey has more than 20 years of HR and people operations experience. She was most recently VP of people at Method Products, where she oversaw the diversity and inclusion programmes, and led all aspects of the employee experience. Prior to that, she was head of HR global operations at Uber and VP of HR and communications at Gap, Inc.

“Our mission is to make global trade easy for everyone,” said Ryan Petersen, founder and chief executive officer of Flexport. “We couldn’t do that without our employees, who are incredibly committed and relentless when it comes to delivering on that mission. Paige has led some of the world’s most recognizable brands through periods of rapid growth, and she’ll be vital to Flexport’s success. Our employees are what make Flexport special and Paige will help us continue to invest in their happiness and growth.”

Robinson will lead Flexport’s design team, overseeing both brand and product design. He will realize design solutions for the company’s thousands of clients, partners and carriers. Apart from designing new product interfaces, he will also help the organization approach global logistics from a design perspective.

Robinson was previously VP of product design at Oath. He has also held executive design roles at Yahoo, Hightail, AOL and MySpace.

“David is joining Flexport at a pivotal time as we grow in both our product and service offerings,” said Petersen. “His perspective and experience will be key to how we think about and implement new processes for solving logistics problems. As the industry grows, we’ll not only need to evolve the services we offer, but also how we think about and approach new problems. David has the expertise to help us do that.”
