Qatar Airways will begin flying non-stop to Gothenburg on December 12, 2018.

According to the airline, the new flight to Sweden’s second-largest city will be operated five times a week with a Boeing 787-8.

“It is with great pleasure that we announce the launch of direct services to Gothenburg, our second gateway into Sweden,” said Akbar Al Baker, group chief executive of Qatar Airways. “Gothenburg is a charming city with much to offer both business and leisure travellers. This new direct route demonstrates our commitment to expanding our presence in the Nordic countries, a highly important market for us, and to further connecting these destinations on our global network.”

Qatar Airways already flies between Doha and Stockholm twice a day, also using 787-8s. The route was launched in 2007.

Qatar Airways Cargo currently offers more than 870 tonnes of cargo capacity each week out of its Nordic gateways in Copenhagen, Helsinki, Oslo and Stockholm, all served with 787-8 aircraft.
